Wood Engraved Maps

General

What if I cannot find my desired map?

We have made it easier than ever to place an order for a map that we don't yet list with our custom order pages here for both our Lakes and Bays as well as our Golf Course maps! Please be sure to include the lake/course name, county/city, state (or equivalents) and any nearby markers to ensure we get the right area for you. Keep in mind that these custom maps are intended to include the types of features mentioned in the product descriptions as is applicable and available for the requested area. Customization requests left in the comments box will be taken into account but cannot be guaranteed or may involve added fees upon processing if exceeding our normal features and are possible to accommodate.

What if the photo shows a different map?

We list over 15,000 different maps and some still need photos taken after the first of its kind is produced to replace this representative example. Because all of our maps are made to order, we do not start a design until we receive an order from a customer. Please verify your map using the details in the product description that may include: County/City/State/Country, Acreage, nearest Town or Water Body, and Coordinates! If you are unsure if the map is the one you are looking for, just reach out to us at info@scmaps.com to help verify before purchase. If you would like to see the design before it is produced, please mention it in the order comments and email us at orders@scmaps.com with your order number requesting to see the proof.

What’s the difference between Natural and Polyurethane finish?

The natural finish is just that, the beautiful natural wood grain without sealant that gives a nice rustic look to our maps. The polyurethane finish adds a slightly glossy, more golden hue to the top layer of the wood map as well as some additional protection from humidity and moisture.

Can you make maps of rivers as well?

Not quite yet but we will list some popular ones in the future like Mississippi River Pools! Many rivers are very long and narrow, so we are working on a new format and method to best represent these. Please send us a quick email to info@scmaps.com and let us know the river name, county, and state so we can be sure to let you know when it becomes available. Maybe even mention some landmarks of the length/section (or better yet, some screenshots) of the river you would like to see, then we will get back to you as soon as we can with a better answer.

Can I customize my map, such as having an icon at my address?

All of our maps include lovely red wooden cutouts of heart and star shapes for just this purpose free of charge! If you are looking to have something added to the engraving on the front of the map, we currently charge $50 for all standard customizations. Please mention such requests in your order comments and reach out to us in a separate email to orders@scmaps.com with your order number and customization request and we will do our best to accommodate.

Shipping

How long will it take to get my map?

If a wood engraved lake or bay map has already been designed, we can sometimes ship in as little as 7-10 business days. For a design that has not been done before, or during high-transaction, gift-giving periods, the wait time is extended depending on the complexity of the map. This is usually listed as a minimum of 7-21 business days but current ship dates are as much as 45 days. Maps that have not yet been designed - typically those with representative images in the product descriptions - are running closer to 60-75 days to ship, although we are increasing production to greatly improve upon that over the next several weeks. Please keep in mind that these are custom designed and made-to-order art pieces with countless unique factors, so actual production timelines can vary. If there is a specific date that you need your order by, please let us know in the notes section of your order and we will do our best to accommodate while still ensuring every map is crafted beautifully!

My order hasn’t moved from “Awaiting Fulfillment”, what does that mean?

This simply means that your order is either still in the design stage if an exact photo isn't shown on our site for your map, or is awaiting production to be finalized in the order it was received. It may show this status until the order is shipped at which point you will receive tracking information via the email address on file.

How long will my map take to arrive after I have received a tracking number?

We’re currently seeing a 2-8 day window for delivery once shipped. Delivery times may extend slightly in poor weather conditions or high traffic periods such as during year-end Holidays. Working with a natural wood medium, actual shipments occasionally occur a day or two after the label is produced so our craftsmen can ensure you are getting a top quality product that is made to last!

What if my tracking info shows delivered but I have not received my package?

This is a rare occurrence that we recommend reporting to the courier (usually UPS or USPS) immediately using your provided tracking number so they can investigate the missing package. Oftentimes, the package can be located with the courier's help or recovered to deliver properly in a short amount of time! Potential additional steps will be provided by the courier and can vary.

Return Policy

What if my map arrives damaged?

We care deeply about getting our customers a top-quality product! Please send photos of the map and the packaging to orders@scmaps.com so we can review your case and find a resolution. Please keep all packaging in case it needs to be exchanged.

What if there is an error on the design?

Because we design thousands of lakes, we understand errors occur. We want to ensure each customer gets an error free product. Please send detailed photos of the error to orders@scmaps.com. We will evaluate next steps and come to a solution.

What if I receive the wrong map?

If you believe that you have received a different map than the one you ordered, please send photos of your received map to orders@scmaps.com so our team can investigate the cause and find a resolution. We will replace any map that has been sent by our team in error free of charge.

What if I am not satisfied with my purchase?

All of our maps are made to order. We work hard on each design as every order is catered to the customer. Therefore, we cannot accept returns or refund requests once production has begun.

Fishing Map Guides, All-Outdoors Atlases, Downloads & Apparel

What kind of information do your Fishing Map Guides and eBooks contain?

We provide color contour lake maps, area road maps, stocking and survey data, lake data, and fishing tips and hotspots from local experts that we think you'll find extremely useful for your next trip to the lake.

Is there a difference between the information in the Fishing Map Guides and the eBooks?

We provide the same lake and fishing information in the eBooks as we do in the Fishing Map Guides. The difference between the two is simply the way the information is made available to you.

Where does the information in your products come from?

Most of the lake information, survey data, and stocking information is obtained from each state's respective government conservation agencies. All of the fishing editorials which include fishing tips and fishing hotspots are written by our professional editorial staff, who personally interviewed fishing guides, bait shops, and local fishing professionals who know their lakes better than anyone else.

eBooks

Will my eBook work on my device?

Our eBooks are in PDF format, which means they are compatible with any device capable of viewing PDFs (iOS, Android, Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, and more). To view your eBook, simply open the file in your PDF viewer of choice, like iBooks, Kindle, Google Books, and Adobe Acrobat.

Interactive eBooks: The interactive features are supported by some, but not all, PDF viewers. To ensure everything works as intended, we highly recommend downloading Adobe Acrobat (available for free online, on the Google Play Store, App Store, Amazon App Store, and the Microsoft Store) to your phone, tablet, or computer before downloading your eBook.

How do I download my eBook?

Click the “Download Files” link in the order email we sent. This will take you to a download page on our website. Click the file name and your download will begin (only click this link once). The files for some books are quite large, so it may take some time for your download to finish. If you are downloading on your computer, your file will go to the downloads folder for the web browser that your are using.

Android - Your download progress will be displayed in the notifications bar. When the download is finished, you can find it in your downloads folder. To navigate to the downloads folder, you can use the built in file navigator application or a free app like AndroZip.

iOS (iPhone & iPad) - After clicking the download link on our website, the PDF will begin to load in a new window of your browser. When the file is fully loaded, you can save it by tapping the screen and selecting “Open in iBooks”. Your eBook will then be automatically saved in your iBooks app and can be found in the PDFs section of your bookshelf.

With some larger files, IOS devices will time out before completing the download, in which case try the following: Download the file to your computer and open in iBooks. Then, on your iOS devices, you turn on iCloud Drive under Settings - click your Name at the top (the one that now says AppleID, iCloud, itunes & App Store under your name), and make sure that iCloud Drive is turned on (about halfway down the screen). Under the iCloud Drive heading, you have to make sure that iBooks is turned on. (5 gigs of iCloud storage is free).

On the Mac, when you click on System Preferences>iCloud, you make sure iCloud Drive is turned on, then click on Options next to iCloud Drive and make sure that the iBooks option is visible and checked. That should cause your e-Pub books and PDFs to automatically upload to iCloud Drive.

You then would go to iBooks on your iPhone or iPad, and when you open the app, under My Books>All Books, you should see all of the books listed, and the PDFs and e-Pub books that are in your iBooks library on your Mac, but that are not downloaded from iCloud Drive should display with a little cloud next to them.

You can then click on the cloud to download (or “sync”) them to your iPad or iPhone.

My download expired before I was able to download my eBook!

Email us at websupport@scmaps.com and we’ll send you a new download link right away.

I’m having trouble downloading my eBook

Some of the eBook files are quite large, so we recommend downloading over a stable wifi network if downloading to a phone or tablet. If your download stops while it is still in progress, it may be an issue with the internet connection briefly cutting out. Most of the time, the issue is resolved by attempting to download later or attempting to download after connecting to a new wifi network. Make sure you have enough space available on your device (you can see the size of the file on the download page).

The eBook is downloaded to my device, but I can't open it

There are several possible causes for this problem. A common cause is an interruption during the download process that damages the file and prevents it from opening. Try downloading the file again to see if you still encounter the problem. Another common cause is the application being used to view the file. The files are copyrighted and protected, so they may not open in certain editing software. The file should work with all PDF viewers and major eReader apps like Play Books, Kindle, iBooks, Open Office, and Adobe Acrobat.

Another common issue is a bug in some versions of Android that prevents PDFs and some other files from opening directly from the notification bar or the built in download manager. If you get a "cannot open file" message when you try to open your eBook, this is probably the cause. To get around this, navigate to and open the file in your downloads folder using a built in file manager application or Androzip, File Manager, or a similar free file navigator application.

I accidentally threw out my receipt before I knew I needed it!

Don’t worry, if you are unable to send a photo of your receipt, just fill out the form, and let us know at ebook@scmaps.com

I ordered on your website, can I get a free eBook?

Yes, but you don’t have to fill out the form - all eligible books automatically come with a free eBook and can be found on your order receipt. Please email websupport@scmaps.com if you have any trouble with your download.

I don’t see an email with the download link for my free ebook!

The most common reason is automatic spam/junk mail filtering. Your email may be in your spam folder, if it’s not, it is most likely the result of an incomplete form submission, no proof of purchase received, a typo in the email address, or the email simply didn’t make it through. Please give us a call or email websupport@scmaps.com and we’ll send you a new email right away!

Map Downloads

What am I getting when I buy a download?

We provide color contour lake maps, area road maps, stocking and survey data, lake data, and fishing tips from local experts for thousands of lakes across the country.

Many customers are ecstatic about all of this great information we have combined into our Fishing Map Guide Books. However some only desire this information for a specific lake.

For this reason we now provide PDF versions of our fishing map book pages for individual lakes, so that you may download and enjoy any of the individual lakes that we cover in our books!

How do I download the file?

Once you have added all of your items to your cart and have gone through the checkout process, the links to the downloadable files will be emailed to you.

If you created an account with us via our User page or during the checkout process, you will also be able to download your files via links in your User page.

When you click on the link to download the file, save the file to your computer if given the options "Open" or "Save." You can then open the file in a PDF viewer, like Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader (free).

Why are the lake downloads priced differently?

Though we provide detailed information for all of the lakes that we cover, some lake downloads include more information than others. We therefore based our prices on the lake size and number of pages included with each download.

You'll notice thumbnail images on each lake information page. These thumbnails denote the number of pages that will be included in each download.

Why are some lakes combined together into one download?

Some of our lakes are placed together because of their proximity to each other and their size. If two or three lakes are smaller in size and are located in the same area, we combine them into one download.

Can I see a sample?

Absolutely! Click this link to see a sample download.

Shipping

When will my order be shipped?

If you ordered books and/or apparel, if your order is placed before 5pm central time Monday-Friday, we'll ship it the same day. If you place your order on a weekend, we'll ship it Monday.

If you're leaving for a fishing trip in a few days, give us a call and we'll make sure your order makes it to you before you leave. If you're leaving today, however, you might want to download and print the maps you need, and buy the book later (you'll receive a discount for the amount you spend on the downloads).

Privacy Policy

We'll never sell, rent or give away your information, or otherwise misuse it. We ask for your email address for order confirmation, and your phone number in case something happens which requires a phone call.
